Ortofficina
Bistro Vegan
Ortofficina is a vegetarian bistro in the heart of Udine, serving a different menu every day to a mostly local, working crowd. Despite its distinctive personality, the bistro had no website. Daily menus were shared as images on social media, making communication repetitive and leaving customers without a central place to find updated information. With a limited budget and little time for website management, the goal wasn’t to build a complex digital platform. It was to create a simple, recognisable online presence that worked for both customers and staff. I designed and developed a single-page website that brings the bistro’s personality online while making its daily menu easier to access and manage.
Project Details
Vegetarian, without the green
Orto-officina doesn’t look like a conventional vegetarian restaurant. Its interiors combine bold colours, playful details and a creative atmosphere. Rather than introducing familiar earthy tones and natural greens, I translated the bistro’s existing visual language into the interface. Contrasting blue and orange, vibrant food photography and scattered vegetable illustrations create a visual identity that feels connected to the physical space.
A website updated through a message
The biggest challenge wasn’t displaying the daily menu. It was making sure the owners could update it without adding another task to their day. I developed a custom backend connected to a WeChat bot, allowing staff to update the website’s menu by sending simple commands through chat. No CMS to learn. No dashboard to manage. Just a familiar messaging interface integrated into their existing routine.

Outcome
A distinctive digital home for Orto-officina, combining its unconventional visual identity with a practical menu management system. One page for customers. A few messages for the owners.
